Quick answer
Start with aperitivo on the Navigli or in Brera, then move on to a cocktail bar such as Moebius, ranked No. 6 in Europe’s 50 Best Bars 2026. For clubs, head to Corso Como and Garibaldi or to venues such as Alcatraz and Volt, where club nights start from around 11pm. The metro stops around 12:30am, and night buses take over until morning.
Bar rankings, opening hours, club calendars and night bus routes below were checked on 5 October 2026. Club programs change every week, so check the venue’s site or social pages on the day.
How a night out in Milan works
A night out here usually runs in three stages: aperitivo in the early evening, dinner, then bars or a club. Aperitivo means a drink served with snacks. Our aperitivo in Milan guide covers how it works and where to go.

A spritz at aperitivo, the drink with snacks that starts most evenings in Milan.
After dinner, the bar districts stay busy until late. Moebius serves until 1am (2am on Friday and Saturday) and Dry Milano in Brera until 2am. Clubs open late: Alcatraz starts its club nights at 11pm.

RitaMap, Via Angelo Fumagalli 1, opened in 2002 and was No. 49 in Europe’s 50 Best Bars 2026. It is open Monday to Saturday.

The Doping Club (Aethos Milan)Map, the bar of the Aethos hotel on Piazza XXIV Maggio 8 by the Darsena, is open every day. The furniture is eclectic, and all of it is for sale.
CaricoMap, Via Savona 1, has been open since March 2020 and changes its cocktail list from week to week. It is closed on Tuesday.
Corso Como and Garibaldi
Come here for cocktails and dancing around Corso Como and Piazza Gae Aulenti, under the Porta Nuova towers. It is also where you find Ceresio 7Map, Via Ceresio 7, a rooftop with two pools and an American Bar (more in the rooftop section below).

The Porta Nuova towers above Garibaldi, next to the Corso Como nightlife strip.
Brera
Brera’s lanes are full of restaurants and bars, and the evenings are quieter than on the canals. Dry MilanoMap, Via Solferino 33, pairs pizza with cocktails, Tuesday to Sunday from 6pm to 2am.
Porta Venezia
Porta Venezia is Milan’s LGBTQ+ neighborhood: the M1 platform is covered by a long rainbow flag, and Via Lecco is lined with gay-friendly bars that become the center of Pride week. Two of the city’s best-known bars are close by. Nottingham ForestMap, Viale Piave 1, is Dario Comini’s cocktail bar, a former regular on the World’s 50 Best list, open in the evening Tuesday to Sunday. Bar BassoMap, Via Plinio 39, is where the Negroni Sbagliato was created in 1972, and it takes walk-ins.
Isola
Isola, just north of Garibaldi, has small bars and restaurants and the city’s main jazz club, Blue Note MilanoMap (see the clubs section).
Arco della Pace and Sempione
Corso Sempione, the avenue that starts at the Arco della PaceMap, is one of the city’s going-out districts, with bars facing Parco Sempione. JustmeMap is inside the park itself, on Via Luigi Camoens, with a restaurant and a club.
Best cocktail bars in Milan
Two lists matter for cocktail bars: The World’s 50 Best Bars, and its regional spin-off, Europe’s 50 Best Bars. The 2026 world top 50 is announced in Milan itself on 7 October 2026, so expect the rankings below to change that week.

A Negroni Sbagliato, the Milan cocktail made with sparkling wine in place of gin.

1930Map, Via Edmondo De Amicis 22, is Milan’s best-known speakeasy. It moved in January 2025 to the basement of Mag La Pusterla, and entry is selective and never guaranteed. Members get in by invitation, and the usual route is to become a regular at the same group’s Mag CaféMap on Ripa di Porta Ticinese 43. As a visitor, treat 1930 as a bonus and plan the evening around somewhere else.
Listening bars in Milan
A listening bar is a bar built around music. Records, almost always vinyl, play on a carefully chosen hi-fi system, often with handmade speakers, and the person at the turntables picks music to listen to rather than to dance to. The idea comes from the jazz kissa of 1950s Japan. You still drink and talk, but at a volume that leaves room for the music, so it suits an evening between a cocktail bar and a club. Milan’s first ones opened in 2022 and 2023, and several more arrived in 2025. These are the ones I recommend.
| Bar | Area | What it is | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| MOGO | Isola | Big hi-fi bar with a kitchen, Sunday brunch | Tue-Sat from 7pm, Sun 11:30am-10pm |
| Solchi | Isola | Small vinyl-only cocktail bar | Daily 6pm-2am |
| Bene Bene | Porta Venezia | Cocktails and guest DJs | Tue-Sat from 6pm |
| Onda | Porta Venezia | Cocktails, vintage Altec speakers | Tue-Sat 7pm-2am |
| Futura | Darsena | Record-lined room, DJ sets | Daily 5pm-midnight |
| Lubna | Near Fondazione Prada | Grill restaurant, cocktails, vinyl DJ sets | Thu-Sun from 6pm |
Isola. MOGOMap, Via Bernina 1C, covers about 400 square meters around a circular bar, with handmade speakers and a menu overseen by chef Yoji Tokuyoshi. It is closed Monday and opens at 7pm the rest of the week (11:30am on Sunday). Nearby, SolchiMap, Via Antonio Pollaiuolo 2, plays only vinyl, and from Monday to Wednesday anyone can try the turntables. Dexter Sound & BitesMap, Via Carmagnola 15, has 25 seats, small plates and jazz, soul and funk records, Monday to Friday from 6:30pm. Section80 BarMap, Via Carlo Farini 44, is a bar, record shop and bookshop open from 10am, Tuesday to Saturday.
Porta Venezia. Bene BeneMap, Via Giovanni Battista Morgagni 31, opened at the end of 2022 and was one of the first in the city. GestoMap, Via Giuseppe Sirtori 15, is a restaurant and cocktail bar with a listening room called Malinconia, for vinyl DJ sets and live jam sessions, Tuesday to Saturday from 6:30pm. OndaMap, Via Bonvesin de la Riva 3, plays records on Altec speakers from 1983, Tuesday to Saturday 7pm to 2am; book a table on its site.
Elsewhere. Futura Listening BarMap, Via Corsico 5 by the Darsena, is open every day from 5pm to midnight. LubnaMap, Via Vezza d’Oglio 14, south of Fondazione Prada, comes from the Moebius team and serves food from a charcoal grill, Thursday to Sunday from 6pm. Nodo BarMap, Via Marco Aurelio 8 in NoLo, mixes a bistro with concerts and DJ sets. Club Giovanile MilanoMap, Via Antonio Raimondi 15, puts a restaurant, a listening bar and a dance floor on three floors of an early 1900s villa, Wednesday to Saturday evenings. At the Triennale, VoceMap has had a listening room and cocktail bar since May 2025; check the Triennale’s program for its nights.
For a drink you can usually just walk in. On Friday and Saturday, book if you want a table, and check the bar’s social pages for the night’s guest.

Getting home: metro, night buses and taxis
The metro runs until about 12:30am on the M1, M2 and M3, and a little earlier on the M5. Our Milan metro guide has first and last trains for each line.
Once the metro closes, ATM night buses follow the same routes every night, and you ride them on normal ATM tickets such as the €2.20 single:
| Night line | Route | When |
|---|---|---|
| NM1 | Replaces the red M1 (two branches meeting at Cadorna, Conciliazione and Pagano) | Every night |
| NM2 | Replaces the green M2 between Cascina Gobba and Piazza Abbiategrasso | Every night |
| NM3 | Replaces the yellow M3 between San Donato and Comasina | Every night |
| NM4 | Replaces the blue M4 between Linate and San Cristoforo | Every night |
| N25 and N26 | Milano Centrale to Cadorna | Every night |
| 90 and 91 | Trolleybus between Lodi and Lotto | Every night |
On Friday and Saturday nights, and the night before a public holiday, extra N lines link the outer neighborhoods with stops such as Duomo, Cairoli and Centrale. For a taxi, call a radio taxi on 02 4040, 02 6969 or 02 8585, or take one from a rank. Licensed Milan taxis are white.
Safety, ID and dress codes
- Pickpockets. US government travel advice warns about pickpocketing in crowded places and on public transport. Keep your phone in a front pocket and your bag closed.
- Surveillance zones. The station areas (including Garibaldi and Corso Como), the Duomo, the Darsena and Navigli and the Colonne di San Lorenzo are “zone rosse” until 30 March 2027, which gives police extra powers to remove people with criminal records who behave aggressively.
- Late-night rules. Until 2 November 2026, a city ordinance covers 12 nightlife areas, including the Navigli and Darsena, Brera, Garibaldi and Corso Como, Isola, NoLo and the Arco della Pace. Shops stop selling alcohol at 10pm, takeaway alcohol from any venue stops at midnight, and outdoor tables close at 1am (2am on Saturday and Sunday nights).
- ID. Selling or serving alcohol to anyone under 18 is illegal in Italy, and staff can ask to see ID. Clubs often check too, so carry your passport.
- Dress code. Few clubs publish one, and the door decides: Volt says the management selects at the door, and Radio Rooftop lists smart casual. Dressing up a little is the safer choice for clubs and rooftops.
Bar crawls and nightlife tours
If you are traveling alone or want company for the first night, a guided bar crawl takes you through several bars in one evening, often on the Navigli. Milan bar crawls on GetYourGuide list the route, the number of bars and what drinks are included, so compare those before you book.
For the food side of the evening, see what to eat in Milan and our list of the best restaurants in Milan. If you are planning when to come, our guide to the best time to visit Milan shows when Design Week and the fashion weeks fill the bars and hotels, and the 2 days in Milan itinerary shows how to fit an evening on the Navigli into a short trip.
