Hotels near Malpensa Airport: terminal hotels, shuttles and when to stay in Milan

Hotel and shuttle details below were checked on 5 October 2026 on each hotel’s own website and on the airport’s official site. Shuttle fares and hours change, so confirm them with the hotel when you book. Room rates around the airport move with flight schedules and trade fairs, so this guide gives no prices: check your dates.

When it makes sense to sleep at Malpensa

Malpensa is about 40 km from central Milan. The Malpensa Express takes about 37 minutes from Cadorna and 51 minutes from Centrale, so a city hotel works for most daytime flights. An airport hotel earns its place in three cases:

• An early flight home. Flights to the US leave from Terminal 1. The first Malpensa Express leaves Cadorna at 4:57am and reaches Terminal 1 at about 5:34am; from Centrale the first train leaves at 5:25am and gets in at about 6:16am. For a departure before about 8am, that is tight once you add check-in and passport control.
• A late arrival. The last Malpensa Express from the airport to Centrale leaves Terminal 2 at 10:37pm, and the last one to Cadorna at 12:20am. After that, only buses and the €114 fixed-fare taxi go to the city.
• A connection the next morning. If you land in the evening and fly on early, there is no reason to go into Milan at all.

Hotels at the terminals

These are the only two hotels you can reach on foot from a terminal.

• Sheraton Milan Malpensa Airport HotelMap is at Terminal 1, the terminal for every airline except easyJet and for all US flights. It has 437 soundproofed rooms and suites, the Il Canneto restaurant, the Monterosa Bar and a wellness area with a gym, indoor pool, sauna and steam bath. The free bus to Terminal 2 stops in front of the hotel.
• Moxy Milan MalpensaMap is a three-star Marriott hotel with 162 double rooms, directly connected to Terminal 2 and opposite its train station. It suits an easyJet flight. For a flight from Terminal 1, take the free shuttle bus (about every 15 minutes, every 30 minutes at night) or the Malpensa Express, which costs €2 between terminals.

Hotels near Malpensa with an airport shuttle

The other hotels are in the small towns around the airport: Case Nuove (part of Somma Lombardo), Vizzola Ticino, Cardano al Campo and Lonate Pozzolo. You reach them by hotel shuttle or taxi. Most shuttles are paid, and hours differ a lot. Distances are the ones each hotel gives.

Free shuttles

• Best Western Hotel Cavalieri della CoronaMap is a four-star hotel in Cardano al Campo, about 10 minutes from both terminals. Its free shuttle, an eight-seat van, runs from 4:30am to 12:30am, and you book it with the hotel. It also sells park-and-fly packages for up to 15 days, from €60 for one or two people in the outdoor car park.
• Hotel Villa MalpensaMap is a converted 20th-century villa in Vizzola Ticino, 800 metres from Terminal 1, with its own restaurant. The shuttle is free for guests who book by phone or on the hotel’s website, and it runs every 30 minutes from 5am to midnight. On arrival, call the hotel once you have your bags and wait at exit 6 of Terminal 1 arrivals, or opposite the pharmacy at Terminal 2. For the trip back, book a seat at reception the day before.

Paid shuttles

• Crowne Plaza Milan - Malpensa AirportMap is in Case Nuove. Every room is soundproofed, breakfast starts at 5am, and there is parking on site. The shuttle runs on request when available and costs €5 per person by day or €10 at night, with children up to 13 free. At Terminal 1 the pickup is on level -1, outside the train station, at the “SACO” bus stop; at Terminal 2 it is bus stop 12 in arrivals, next to the train station.
• Holiday Inn Express Milan-Malpensa AirportMap is also in Case Nuove, run by the same group as the Crowne Plaza, with 121 soundproofed rooms and free breakfast every day from 5am to 10am. Its paid shuttle runs 24 hours when available, from the same pickup points.
• Idea Hotel Milano Malpensa AirportMap is a four-star in Somma Lombardo with a round-the-clock shuttle about every 30 minutes, at €5 per person each way (under-12s free). It leaves from exit 5 at Terminal 1 and exit 7 at Terminal 2. Breakfast runs from 5am to 10am and is included when you book on the hotel’s website.
• TRIBE Milano MalpensaMap is a four-star design hotel in Vizzola Ticino, five minutes’ drive from the airport, with 240 rooms and a panoramic outdoor pool that is closed from September to May. The shuttle runs 24/7 if you reserve it: €5 per person to Terminal 1 and €10 to Terminal 2.
• Novotel Milano Malpensa AirportMap is a four-star in Cardano al Campo with a seasonal outdoor pool and a garage. Its €5 shuttle runs only from 5am to 10am and from 6pm to 11pm, so it does not help with a midday flight.
• ibis Milano Malpensa AeroportoMap is the budget hotel across the road from the Novotel, 6.5 km and a 10-minute drive from the airport, with an indoor garage and park-and-fly rates. It shares the Novotel’s paid shuttle hours (€5 per person each way, 5am to 10am and 6pm to 11pm, booked in advance), and guests eat at the Novotel’s restaurant while its own is closed.
• Malpensa InnMap is in Tornavento di Lonate Pozzolo, with free parking and espresso from 4am for early departures. Its shuttle is charged per room, runs only from 7am to 11am and must be booked two hours ahead, so for a dawn flight you will need a taxi.

Before you book any of these, check three things with the hotel: whether the shuttle is free or paid, whether it runs at the hour of your flight, and whether you need to reserve a seat.

Sleeping in Milan near Centrale or Cadorna

For a flight after mid-morning, or on your first night after landing, a hotel in the city is usually the better use of your money. You get dinner in Milan instead of at an airport hotel, and the train does the rest.

Cadorna is the faster route and the one that runs latest. It suits a hotel near the Duomo, Brera, the Navigli or Magenta, because Cadorna has the M1 and M2 metro lines for the last stretch. Compare hotels near Milano Cadorna.

If you land too late for the train and want to reach the city anyway, the taxi fare is fixed at €114 per car to any address in Milan. Use the official rank outside arrivals.
