Quick answer
Take a direct bus from outside arrivals to Milano Centrale: four companies run the route, with a bus about every 30 minutes, in 50 to 60 minutes, for €5 to €10 one way when you book online. There is no train from the airport yet (the rail link is due in 2028). A taxi to anywhere in Milan has a fixed fare of €128.
Bus fares and timetables were checked on 5 October 2026 on the operators’ own sites, train times on Trenitalia’s booking site, and the bus list and taxi rules on the airport’s and the Lombardy Region’s official pages.
How to get from Bergamo airport to Milan
Milan Bergamo Airport, officially Orio al Serio (BGY), is about 50 km north-east of Milan and serves mainly low-cost European flights. You have three ways into the city.
| Option | Time to Milano Centrale | One-way price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Direct bus (Orioshuttle, Autostradale, Terravision, Flibco) | About 50-60 min | €5-10 online | Almost everyone |
| ATB bus to Bergamo station + regional train | About 1h15 with the change | €3 + €6.30 | A stop in Bergamo first |
| Taxi | Depends on traffic | €128 fixed | Groups, late arrivals, door to door |
The direct buses cost less than the bus and train combination and leave from outside arrivals. The train only makes sense if you want to see Bergamo’s old town on the way.
Bergamo airport to Milan by bus
The airport lists four operators to Milano Centrale: Orioshuttle, Autostradale, Terravision and Flibco. All of them run direct, with no stops, and all of them arrive at Piazza Luigi di Savoia, on the east side of Milano Centrale.

| Bus | Fare checked on 5 October 2026 | Time | Departures from the airport |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orioshuttle | €8 five weeks ahead, €10 for the next day | 50 min | Every 30 min, 5:20am to 11:50pm, plus 12:50am, 1:20am, 3:45am |
| Autostradale | €9 online (return €18) | 50-60 min | 4:25am, then every 30 min 4:55am to 11:55pm, plus 12:55am |
| Terravision | From €5 (return from €10) | About 50 min | Every 30 min |
| Flibco | Shown when you book | About 50 min | Check the timetable on flibco.com |
Where to catch it. Autostradale stops at stands 2 to 5 in front of arrivals, and Flibco gives the same bays 2 to 5 outside the arrivals area.
Buying tickets. Book on the operator’s website or app and show the QR code on your phone. Autostradale’s €9 fare is an online promotion that does not apply at the stop, and Orioshuttle’s prices change by date, so buying the day before costs a little more. Children pay €5 one way on Autostradale (ages 3 to 12) and on Terravision.
If your flight is late. A Terravision ticket is valid on any departure on the booked date, subject to seats, and its standard tickets (not the cheapest fares) stay valid on later buses if your flight is delayed. An Autostradale airport ticket stays valid until it is validated, whatever date and time you chose when buying. Luggage is included on all of them: Autostradale allows one hold bag and a small bag, more if there is space, and Terravision sets no limit as long as there is room.
If you want to book through one app with free cancellation, GetYourGuide sells the same bus seats and private cars on its Bergamo airport transfers page.
Bergamo airport to Milan by train
There is no station at the airport, so the train route has two steps.
- ATB bus line 1 from the airport to Bergamo railway station, every 20 minutes from 4:50am to about 1:30am (from 6:30am on holidays). A single costs €3 and is valid for 90 minutes. The airport gives the ride as 10 minutes; allow 15 with traffic.
- Trenord regional train from Bergamo to Milano Centrale: 48 to 53 minutes, €6.30, roughly hourly. In October 2026 the last direct train left Bergamo at 9:02pm. Some trains go to Milano Porta Garibaldi instead, in about an hour, with the last at 8:40pm.
That is €9.30 and about 1 hour 15 minutes with waits, so it only beats the bus if you planned to stop in Bergamo. Line 1 continues past the station to the lower funicular station and Città Alta, the walled upper town, so you can drop your bags, spend a few hours there and take the train to Milan later. Our day trips from Milan guide covers what to see in Bergamo.

Buy the train ticket in the Trenord or Trenitalia app, where it activates on its own at departure, or validate a paper ticket at the station before boarding. Trainline also lists the Bergamo to Milan route.
Is there a train from Bergamo airport to Milan?
Not yet. FS Italiane, the state rail group, is building a branch of about 5 km from the Bergamo to Rovato line to a new station connected to the terminal by an underground walkway with a moving walkway. Its project page gives 2028 as the activation date, with planned journeys of 10 minutes to Bergamo and 60 minutes to Milan, so plan on the bus for now.
Taxi from Bergamo airport to Milan
A taxi from Orio al Serio to any address in the City of Milan costs €128, a fixed fare set by the Lombardy Region since 1 July 2024. It applies in both directions, and drivers display the fixed fares in the cab. Taxis wait at the arrivals exit (door 1) in the designated rank. Some drivers overcharge tourists, so if you are quoted more than €128 for an address in Milan, point to the fixed fare before you get in.
For two or three people with luggage going to a hotel away from Centrale, the taxi saves the metro or a second taxi at the station. For one person it costs more than 12 times the bus. Our guide to taxis in Milan explains how to find a licensed cab in the city.
Bergamo airport to Malpensa
If you land at Bergamo and fly home from Malpensa, or the other way around, you have two options.
Direct bus. Orioshuttle runs from Bergamo city (Via Furietti) via Bergamo airport and Monza to Malpensa Terminal 2 and Terminal 1. On Tuesday 10 November 2026, for example, there were eight departures from Bergamo between 5am and 6pm, at €25; the full run from Bergamo takes 1 hour 45 to 2 hours 5. Check the airport stop time when you book.
Via Milano Centrale. Take any bus to Centrale (about 50 minutes), then the Malpensa Express, which leaves Centrale at 25 and 55 past the hour and reaches Terminal 1 in about 51 minutes for €15. Terravision suggests the same route with its own two buses, on two separate tickets. Our guide to Malpensa to Milan has the Malpensa Express timetable, and Milan airports compares all three airports.

From Milano Centrale to your hotel
The buses stop at Piazza Luigi di Savoia, on the east side of Centrale. From the station, the yellow M3 metro reaches the DuomoMap in four stops; a ticket costs €2.20, or tap a contactless card at the gate. Our Milano Centrale guide has the metro lines, taxi ranks and luggage storage, and our hotels near Milano Centrale list helps if you arrive late.
Getting to Bergamo airport from Milan
The same buses run back from Piazza Luigi di Savoia. Orioshuttle leaves Centrale from 3:50am and then every 30 minutes until 11:20pm, plus midnight, and Autostradale from 3:55am to 11:55pm, plus 12:55am, which helps with early flights. Autostradale asks online customers to be at the stop 15 minutes before departure. Leave more time than the scheduled 50 minutes at rush hour, and remember that the €128 fixed taxi fare also applies from Milan to the airport.
